First we’ll gently administer local anaesthetic to the tooth’s surrounds to ensure your complete comfort. We’ll then prep the tooth, remove existing damage and any bacteria.
We then fill the cavity with tooth-coloured strong composite resin.
The filling will then be bonded to the tooth, buffed and polished. You’re now good to go and can eat after 30 minutes.
They are a dental treatment designed to prevent a decayed tooth or a broken tooth from further damage. Effectively they are a ‘seal’ for a tooth after it has been cleaned and prepared. There are several types of dental fillings, including composite resin tooth filling - which is what we typically use.

You might experience some discomfort when local anaesthetic is administered, however any tooth sensitivity after filling should disappear by the next day.
You might - some patients do report this or just an overall sensitive tooth after filling - both circumstances can be simply relieved with over the counter medication.
Providing you care for your teeth properly - i.e. brushing, flossing and attending six-monthly check-up and clean appointments, your filling will last for a long time. It is care-dependent.
